About me. . .

I was born in the Ottawa Valley, on the Mississippi River. The library in that little town had about six, large, beautiful oil paintings of some peaceful landscapes, above the bookshelves. My mother was an avid reader and so we visited it often. I studied them over and over wondering how they were made. I  was only seven or eight years old, but very impressed with these pictures. I decided then and there I wanted to learn how to do that.

I have had success’ and failures along the way, but I could never quit. In my opinion “sticktoitiveness”  is the first step to  anyone’s success, no matter how long it takes.

My few proud moments were :

–Opening a little shop called “The Tole Cellar” and working at The Country Sampler ceramic shop teaching and selling supplies.

–Having an agent sell to galleries around the area including The Art Gallery of Hamilton ….Rental Section.

— receiving my Certified Decorative Artist degree (CDA)  from the Society of Decorative Painters (SDP) in the USA.

–Being asked by Artsy  Shark to be a featured artist. and also to write an article on “How Portrait Artists Earn.

Being accepted into Ann Kullberg’s colour magazine “Hidden Treasures” Many were chosen there but it was out of nine hundred entries, so it was special to me.

–Having my own little studio now and opening this brand new website.

Having my first colored pencil tutorial published in The Decorative Painter.

I won’t bore you (and me) with my failures .there were a few but too few to mention… .LOL.
